Analysis of 2 or more Digipaks (CD Cover)

Rihanna 'Loud' Digipak:
This Digipak for Rihanna's 'Loud' album fits in with the pop genre conventions as well as what the target audience would like to see; it is girly, bright and 'pretty'. This Digipak features a front and a back cover, two CDs and a middle page that. The same image has been enlarged and spread across the CD pages making it bold and interesting for the audience to look at. The background compliments the front cover by the continuation of similar colours and the same mise-en-scene. The image on the inside includes red roses which match the colour of the artist hair as well as having a slight pink hue throughout the whole product. This is very bold and eye catching even for someone who may not be from the target audience. The continuation and link between colours and images gives it a slight 'brand identity' as it makes it recognisable for the audience if they were to see it again or if they saw another digipak by the same artist.

One Direction 'Up all Night' Digipak:

This Digipak for One Direction's 'Up all Night' album also fits in with the pop genre conventions as well as what the target audience would like to see. This time the album does not look stereo-typically 'girly' but we know that the target audience is still mainly girls as they are the group that are most likely to like One Direction. The front and back cover have a slight white hue the the images making it seem slightly romantic (romance be a subculture that this particular target audience may be interested in). The front cover is very eye catching as the image is large and the band all have exciting facial expressions and body language conveying to the audience that the music is also going to be very 'exciting'. The CD inside is a bright red, a colour which the band use a lot within their branding, giving themselves a brand identity, again it is very eye catching and clear and the font contrasts with the shocking red colour. There is not much text on this digipak making it simple to look at and clear and this is something that the target audience would like as it offers them a sense of escapism from their everyday lives of going to school.
